  • Sustainability & Impact

    • We wish we could! Sadly, sail cargo ships are still few and far between. But whenever possible, we do — our beans from the Dominican Republic (and often from Colombia, too) travel across the ocean aboard the Tres Hombres, a beautiful wind-powered sailboat. It’s an adventure that’s as sustainable as it gets!
    • Yes! Our chocolate is crafted in our solar-powered factory in Amsterdam, and we’re always finding ways to further reduce energy use.
    • By sourcing from regenerative farms, we protect habitats for wildlife. Plus, we invest in reforestation and ecosystem restoration projects.
    • We track everything — from farming and transport to packaging and production. Then we actively reduce and offset more than we emit, making us carbon negative.
    • It’s farming that works with nature, not against it. Cacao trees grow alongside other trees and plants, which enriches the soil, restores biodiversity, and helps capture carbon.
    • We work directly with cacao farmers, cutting out middlemen. This means we pay them fairly and transparently, always above Fairtrade standards.
    • We are Fairtrade certified in 4 of our product collections and we even go beyond Fairtrade. By sourcing directly, we can pay farmers significantly more than Fairtrade minimums, ensuring they can invest in their communities and land. In the remaining of our product collections, the farmers we work with are not part of Fairtrade, but the quality of their cacao beans, the flavor is spectacular and the cacao is organic: we also pay fair prices there.
    • Even better — we’re carbon negative! We offset more carbon than we produce, which means every bar you enjoy actually helps the planet. Head off to our Impact section to learn more.
    • Yes — our wrappers and boxes are designed to be as eco-friendly as possible. Depending on the product, they’re either recyclable, compostable, or both.
  • General

    • Yes! Our cacao beans and most ingredients are certified organic. That means no nasty chemicals, no shortcuts — just pure, natural goodness.
    • We craft chocolate with a conscience. From bean to bar, we work directly with farmers, pay them well above Fairtrade standards, use regenerative agroforestry practices, use organic ingredients and make our chocolate in a solar-powered factory. Plus, our packaging is eco-friendly and we operate carbon negative — meaning we give back more than we take.
    • Our beans are sourced from six different countries in Latin America (Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic) and Africa (Congo, Sierra Leone). The farmers we work with are all craftsmen when it comes to cultivating organic, high-quality chocolate.
    • Right here on our website! You’ll also find us in select specialty organic stores and supermarkets (and their websites).
  • Dietary & Lifestyle

    • We don’t make sugar-free chocolate yet, but we do offer bars with lower sugar and higher cacao content for those who prefer a less sweet taste.
    • All of our chocolates are vegetarian, and many are 100% vegan as well. Look out for the vegan options under “Type of chocolate” in the filters on the left or the vegan icon on the product page or packaging.
    • Some do, yes. But we have plenty of options in our assortment to cater to your dietary wishes. We clearly list all allergens on each product page and packaging, so please check them carefully.
