BCORP

As Chocolatemakers we have been a BCORP since July 2025. We’re part of a global community of businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. In other words  we’re not just making chocolate that tastes good; we’re making chocolate that does good.

Why did we choose to become BCORP? 

In September 2024 we decided we wanted to pursue this certification to show consumers the credibility and performance of our company along our whole value chain. Many months and many questionnaires later we can proudly wear the BCORP logo on our packaging, showing people that we really care about the planet and its people. In order to become eligible for a BCORP certification, you need a minimum of 80 points out of 200. Chocolatemakers obtained 116.7 in their first certification cycle. The average company scored around 50.9 points. We set ourselves apart from the rest of the companies, by dedicating the business that is good for you and for the planet.

What can you score? 

BCORP gives out points on social and environmental level but also on corporate level. It ensures fair labour practices for everyone in the value chain, sustainable sourcing and environmental responsibility. That means that everything from the bean till the policies on biking to the office is being assessed. The diversity in the topics show how important it is to look further than just the office or just the farm.  

Why is it important for you? 

BCORP shows care and reliability. Their strict standards on social and environmental goals and execution prove a trustworthy system. BCORP needs to be reported publicly, encouraging companies to be transparent and accountable. It focuses on the long term value of products and their consequences of production. With the long term vision of BCORP they are steps ahead on other certifications. 

It also engages companies to be and to do better. Every three years a recertification needs to take place in order to stay a BCORP company. This takes a lot of effort but the reward is more than worth it. We are committed to becoming even better, obtaining more points on all levels so you can enjoy our chocolate even more!
